The Employment Specialist I/Grounds Keeper is responsible for the cleaning of The Arc facility as well as maintaining the outside grounds. Must have thorough knowledge of both lawn and janitorial equipment, cleaning supplies and chemicals, and demonstrate the ability to use equipment safely. This person must be able to work independently. This position is also responsible for providing ongoing supervision and support to individuals as directed in developing and maintaining appropriate work skills both on and off the job site. In addition, this position provides support for individuals to assist them in pursuing goals related to community activities, social interactions, essential life skills and personal hygiene tasks. This position may work independently but maintains close contact with the team. The job atmosphere is based on the individuals’ needs.


Required: High School Diploma or GED, ability to obtain certificate in employment services within 18 months. Valid Alaska driver license, clean driving record, proof of insurance, TB skin test/health screening and the ability to pass a criminal background check.

Preferred: Experience in social services and/or direct support of individuals experiencing disabilities and one (1) year’s experience in the commercial janitorial field. Certificate in employment services.
