JOB SUMMARY:

The Supported Employment Specialist provides ongoing supervision and support to individuals as directed in developing and maintaining appropriate work skills both on and off the jobsite. In addition, the Supported Employment Specialist provides support for individuals to assist them in pursuing goals related to community activities, social interactions, essential life skills, and hygiene tasks. This position may work independently but maintains close contact with the assigned supervisor and the team. The job atmosphere is based on the individual's needs.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:

Required:High School Diploma/GED. Six (6) months social service/life experience with individuals who experience an intellectual or developmental disability. Customer Service may be substituted for direct experience where applicable. Must be able to complete Certification within 18 months. Six (6) months experience computer proficiency. Must have continuous use of a vehicle during work shifts, valid Alaska driver license, clean driving record, proof of insurance, current TB skin test/health screening and the ability to pass a criminal background check. Must maintain CPR, First Aid, and MANDT certification.

Preferred: Two (2) years’ experience in social services and/or direct support of individuals experiencing disabilities. Two (2) years’ computer proficiency experience.
