Job Opening: Utility Clerk
Location: Anchorage, AK
Schedule: M-F, 8:00 am – 5:00 pm
Travel: less than 10%

Alaska Village Electric Cooperative, Inc.
, a generation and distribution utility serving 59 communities in Alaska, is seeking an Utility Clerk in Anchorage, AK. This position operates and maintains the AMR & data interpretation systems; acquires load and related interval data in support of load research, billing transactions, line loss and related analysis; additional duties include maintaining the hardware, schedules, system errors, and programming of the AMR system as well as troubleshooting problems related to AMR system and other utility operations, reporting, and recording keeping; and preforms all other duties as required for the success of the department.

Key Areas for this positions include:

Metering (programming, tracking, testing, and troubleshooting)
AMR System
AMR Data Analysis
Outage Reporting
Power Plant Operator Reporting (logs)
Heat Recovery Reporting (logs)

Education Requirements:

Utility Clerk I High School Diploma (or equivalent)

Utility Clerk II High School Diploma plus minimum of 20 credit hours of electronic related field at a vocational/technical school or equivalent.

Utility Clerk III High School Diploma (or equivalent) plus bachelor’s degree in engineering, IT, or related field.

Experience Requirements:

Utility Clerk I Six months of related work experience, pertaining to utilities, metering, data management or analysis.

Utility Clerk II Two years of related work experience of similar complexity. Mastery in a minimum of three key job areas.

Utility Clerk III Minimum of five (5) years’ experience in a comparable position of similar complexity. Must be able to perform satisfactorily or demonstrate competency in all key areas of the position.


Demonstrated ability to learn meter programming and related systems
Demonstrated ability to analytically reason and relate theoretical concepts to changing equipment & conditions
XML and schema experience
Excellent customer service skills
Creative problem solver and collaborator
Accurate, honest, and able to adapt to changes
Records management
Skilled in use of Microsoft Office programs: Excel, Word, and Outlook
